Certificate of Origin (CO) is an export document to certify the country of manufacture of a shipment. It is normally required by customs, banks and traders for trade formalities.
The Chamber provides a full range of CO services for goods of Hong Kong, China or foreign origins. Hong Kong exporters or their appointed agents are welcome to make the applications.
For shipments exported from Mainland China (or other country) to Hong Kong AND re-exported from Hong Kong to overseas.
For shipments exported from Mainland China (or other country) DIRECTLY to another country without transit or with transhipment in Hong Kong
CHKO is applicable for goods which are wholly grown or mined or manufactured in Hong Kong.
Products manufactured in Hong Kong that meet the CEPA origin rules enjoy zero tariff for import into the Mainland.
CP certifies that the goods concerned have undergone certain manufacturing processes in Hong Kong but not to the extent where Hong Kong origin status can be conferred. Manufacturing processes such as simple diluting, packing, bottling, drying, simple assembling, sorting or decorating etc. are not regarded as genuine manufacturing processes.
Products manufactured in Hong Kong that meet the origin rules of Free Trade Agreements enjoy zero or preferential tariff rates for imports into some countries.
For shipments of ASEAN origin goods travelling within ASEAN states via Hong Kong.
